Over the years Nintendo has released a wide range of limited and special edition products for various reasons. Some have been to celebrate the release of a new game, while others have been to commemorate an anniversary of some sort. They’ve seen gamers treated to a variety of different colour schemes and much more. Here are some of our favourites from more recent times.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games – Nintendo Wii

In years gone by it was almost unimaginable to think the Super Mario Bros. and Sonic would appear on the same console as each other, let alone in the same game. However, things changed around a decade ago when Sega and Nintendo collaborated for the first time on GameCube’s F-Zero GX, following Sega’s decision to drop out of producing hardware. Fast forward to 2011 and the pair were on to the third instalment of Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. Nintendo celebrated by releasing a special Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games bundle with a blue Nintendo Wii console, nunchuk and Nintendo Wii remote, along with a copy of the game.
